Als hätte man die gleiche Geschichte nicht auch nur mit Krennic, dem imperialen Offizier, genau so spannend erzählen können. Aber ohne "Nostalgie" als Verkaufselement gibt es "Star Wars" offensichtlich nicht es bleibt abzuwarten, inwieweit Episode 8 dieses Bedürfnis bedient.

Es werden etliche neue Welten und Charaktere eingeführt, die zum Teil wenig zum Zuge kommen. Nach einiger Eingewöhnungszeit nimmt der überraschend tragische Film aber an Fahrt auf und bietet ordentlich Fanfutter.
Die üblichen Unwahrscheinlichkeiten und logischen Schwachstellen bevölkern natürlich auch diesen SciFi-Abenteuer-Krieg-Streifen, doch zumindest bleibt er letztendlich überaus konsequent.
Wenn man ehrlich ist braucht man das nicht wirklich wissen und wenn man noch ehrlicher ist, dann ist diese Geschichte auch irgendwie nicht besonders spannend erzählt, denn wie es ausgeht ist ja seit Jahrzehnten bekannt.
Einzig die Ausstattung im Stil der Originaltrilogie sowie einige visuelle Referenzen an diese machen den Film wirklich sehenswert.
