The final performance is good but, but the genres were more effectively combined in a superb recent stage production by Flawless and English National Ballet, which showed just how brilliant this combination can be.
My partner and I recently got introduce to Step-Up after being too 'snobby' to bother with it! Embarassingly, we both loved the Step-Up movies so when we saw this had Diversity and George Sampson we thought it'd be worth a watch.
There are some good moments but it's somewhat disappointing. Dance moves are good but lacks the engaging storyline.

It may be a good movie but I don't think I'll ever find out because I won't watch it now on principle. I'm glad I paid next to nothing for it.
This is not a 3D Blu-ray. Feel good movie and brilliant dancing. No, this is not another "Step Up" film. The contrived story offers nothing new, but the amazing street dance scenes are enjoyable.
The thumping soundtrack music is also nice. Nichola Burley plays Carly, whose new task is to lead a new dance crew after Jay Ukweli Roach , her boyfriend, suddenly left the group.
Carly first has to secure the place where the dance crew can practice. Luckily, a ballet coach Helena Charlotte Rampling , who thinks her students need something stimulating, offers a deal: Carly can use the school's room Of course the story is implausible.
But there is one good thing about it and that is most characters are likable. No one gets involved in crimes. No brawls, no street fights.
No one is drunk. All they want to do is dance. What makes "StreetDance" special is beautifully-choreographed energetic dancing scenes that are fun to watch.

Carly is the sassy girl in Britain's second best street dance crew, led by her boyfriend Jay. The best are "The Surge" played by genuine group Flawless; Diversity also appear at one point.
They hope to take top spot at the upcoming finals, but Jay announces he's leaving for "a break". Carly tries to carry on, but starts to make a mess of it, losing rehearsal space and half her crew.
At this point she meets ballet teacher Helena played by veteran actress Charlotte Rampling , who offers her a deal: free rehearsal space, provided she takes on five of her milksop ballet students and shows them the passion of streetdance.
From there you have a by-the-numbers tale of the two sides not getting on, then slowly accepting each other, some personal romance and betrayal, and finally the big showdown at the finals.
